Creamy chocolate sauce
Chocolate Sauce, yum!

This healthy chocolate sauce is rich, creamy, naturally sweetened, and incredibly versatile. You can use it for hot chocolate, chocolate milk, or as a chocolate dip, and it’s made entirely with real, nourishing ingredients with no added sugar, no syrups, no artificial sweeteners.

Best of all? Kids love it, adults feel great after eating it, and it aligns with choosing foods closer to how God designed them.

Why Most Chocolate Sauces Miss the Mark

Most store-bought chocolate syrups and cocoa mixes are loaded with:

  • Refined sugar or corn syrup

  • Artificial flavors

  • Thickeners and stabilizers

Even “healthier” versions often rely on sweeteners that spike blood sugar or irritate digestion.

This chocolate sauce does the opposite. It’s designed to:

  • Sweeten naturally

  • Support gut and joint health

  • Provide minerals

  • Taste indulgent without guilt

The Power of These Simple Ingredients

Ingredients for recipe
Ingredients for Chocolate Sauce

Medjool Dates

I like to call medjool dates nature’s candy! They are rich in fiber, potassium, and antioxidants. The fiber slows sugar absorption, helping prevent spikes and crashes.

Collagen

Supports gut health, joints, skin, hair, and nails. Collagen blends seamlessly into this chocolate sauce without changing flavor and it provides added protein. You can make this recipe without collagen, simply add a little less water. It really delicious either way!

Cacao Powder

A mineral-rich superfood packed with magnesium, iron, and it's even mood-supporting too. Real chocolate benefits with no fillers.

Coconut Oil

Adds creaminess and healthy fats that help stabilize blood sugar and increase satiety.

Cinnamon

Enhances sweetness naturally while supporting blood sugar balance.

Vanilla Extract

Rounds out the chocolate flavor and adds warmth, no sugar needed.

How to Make Date Paste (The Natural Sweetener)

Everything starts with a smooth, creamy date paste, which replaces refined sugar in countless recipes.

How to Make Date Paste:

  1. Remove pits from 12 Medjool dates

  2. Add dates to medium bowl and add 2 cups very hot water. Let soak for 10 minutes.

  3. I use date paste as sweetener for many baked goods instead of sugar.

How to Make the Healthy Chocolate Sauce

Ingredients

o   16 ounces water

o   12 Medjool dates, pitted

o   1/3 cup collagen powder (optional ingredient, add less water if not used)

o   1/3 cup cacao powder

o   1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil

o   1 Teaspoon Cinnamon

o   1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, boil water.

  2. In medium bowl, add pitted dates and the boiling water. Let dates soften for 10 minutes. Do not toss the water.

  3. In a blender, add softened dates and about 4 tablespoons of the “date” water. Pro Tip: If you blend these two items you would have date paste.

  4. To the blender, add the remaining ingredients collagen, cacao powder, coconut oil, cinnamon, and vanilla. Add about 2-4 oz of the date water to a high-speed blender, adjust as needed to get the desired thickness of the chocolate sauce. Blend until the mixture is fully pureed. Serve!

  5. Store in refrigerator for up to 5 days.
