As I was reading through the Bible earlier this month, almost every chapter in Isaiah jumped off the pages. Although I have read Isaiah several times, the chapters really came to life. I love that about the Bible, it is the Living Word! Our time in the Word of God is fresh every time we read it!
In each day of this Bible Plan, I share one or more key verses that resonated with me which I hope highlights a new aspect of this impactful Book to you. In addition, I curated a collection of five inspirational songs about Isaiah which you can find on YouTube. These songs complement the scriptures and I believe will enhance your understanding.
In addition, to aid your understanding and appreciation of Isaiah, I've suggesting two resources which provide a great overview of the book.
My favorite section of Isaiah is chapter 40-66. These chapters are filled with great hope and comfort for the Israelites of the Old Testament and for us today. Here are six chapters I particularly found impactful.
Chapter 40 starts with the exile of the Israelites being over! This verse refers to the fact that the Lord's glory is to be revealed to those that have prepared their heart for Him, regardless of their nationality, thank you Lord!
verse 5 NIV states: "And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
Chapter 43:19 NIV is such an encouraging verse and a reminder to move forward, don't look back, God has great NEW THINGS in store for His children.
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
Chapter 52:7 NIV I love this verse which speaks to US today, God loves when our feet are moving to share the good news with others!
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
Chapter 53 speaks to our Lord and Savior suffering for us. Adam Clarke, a famous theologian, sums this chapter well.
“This chapter foretells the sufferings of the Messiah, the end for which he was to die, and the advantages resulting to mankind from that illustrious event…. This chapter contains a beautiful summary of the most peculiar and distinguishing doctrines of Christianity.”
Chapter 55 is a chapter filled with many verses I have memorized over the years. This is a chapter filled with a beautiful invitation to know the Lord's glory! Here are two of my favorite verses.
Verse 8 NIV
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord."
Verse 11 NIV - I LOVE this verse and stand on this verse as I declare other promises the Lord has stated throughout the Bible. His WORD does not return to him empty, it will happen!
"So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Chapter 66:9 NIV is a verse I often repeat today. I'm believing what the Lord has planted in my heart to accomplish with succeed as He promised!
"Do I bring to the moment of birth and not give delivery?” says the Lord . “Do I close up the womb when I bring to delivery?” says your God.

Check out one of the songs that I recommend as you journey through Isaiah. Songs of worship and praise are so important to include in our life as the Lord loves our worship. Songs also help us to remember what we read! I pray you greatly enjoy these selections.
Praying great blessings over you as you dive into this incredible book of the Bible.
Note: I intentionally skipped chapter 13-25 (with the exception of chapter 22) because I felt for a 21 day overview these chapters didn't provide many applications to our life. These chapters are about Babylonian rules and the fact that they were a destructive nation. Of course, if you want then to read those chapters then simply add 3 more days to the timeline!
